Mail Art + Tacklebox Girls Club

Trying out new lettering techniques and fun ways to use washi tape!

Trying out new lettering techniques and fun ways to use washi tape!

On Sunday, August 21st and 28th, Tacklebox held a free preview event for our creative program, Tacklebox Girls Club. We had a blast at Carmel Valley Mercantile and learned beautiful ways to brighten someone's day with snail mail.

Sloan wrote a letter to her favorite Olympian. We love the way she used the lightning bolt in his name and all that cool washi tape!

It was so wonderful seeing girls from different schools come together to make things and have some time to play games, get to know one another, and eat some sweet treats.

Gianna created her own cloud font... how cool is that?

The only thing I didn’t like about Tacklebox Girls Club is that it didn’t last longer

It's even fun to send a letter to your mom! Who cares if she lives in the same house as you... Maddie did a great job with all of those washi banners!

Josie used an old-school art technique, pointillism, to give her letters a little more pizazz. Love the variety!

A big shout-out to Tacklebox Girls Club member, Lily, and her mom, Emily, for hosting us at the Carmel Valley Mercantile, and making the best lemonade ever!

These two Sunday events were the perfect example of what Tacklebox Girls Club will be: a place to slow down and create, connect with others, and get to know ourselves better. We will breathe life into old-school typewriters, books, sewing machines, and letter writing and make it be something wonderful that we share together. No phones (except for pictures!!) No judgement. No right or wrong way. Just creating with our hands and hearts. Cheers to the two groups of lovely girls who spent time at Tacklebox Girls Club! Our program starts on Sunday, September 11th, and there is still time to sign up. For those of you who have, I can't wait to see you soon!
