Tacklebox Girls Club is a dream of mine that needs some 6th-8th grade girls to help make it happen. It's the kind of thing I wish I had at that age- an inspiring safe space in the community where girls create, chat, and grow.
It's about learning how to live creatively. Using our hands, our hearts, our words to make things that inspire ourselves and others. It's about adopting the daily ritual of joy, fun, and creativity to help deal with stress and navigate life with grace and confidence.
I see a room full of girls making journals for themselves, collaborating on a funky photo backdrop for a mother-daughter event, and helping each other deal with friend drama through writing and performing. Every girl is welcome at Tacklebox Girls Club, not only the ones who are already crafty! It's not about creating artists. It's about creating girls who live happily because of their creative practice- whether it's through dance, cooking, sketching, directing iPhone videos, etc. Let's find out how we can make a mess together!
On Sunday, August 21 and 28 from 3-5pm, Carmel Valley Mercantile (24000 Robinson Canyon Rd, Carmel Valley, CA 93923) will host a free Tacklebox Girls Club event that will preview our twice-monthly school year program. Join us for creating, snacks, and so much fun! Please call or email Megan to reserve a spot.
